The 1Richland Group, in collaboration with Catholic Charities, will host a “Bridges out of Poverty” workshop on Tuesday, June 23, from 8 a.m. to noon at North Central State College, Fallerius Technical Education Center, 2441 Kenwood Circle, Mansfield.
The workshop will help employers understand barriers individuals may face that prevent them from gaining successful employment. In addition, attendees will learn how to become leaders in workforce development by increasing employee retention, efficiency and productivity in the workplace.
The workshop curriculum will be based on the book, “Bridges out of Poverty: Strategies for Professionals and Communities,” by Dr. Ruby Payne, Phillip DeVol, and Terie Dreussi Smith. Workshop facilitator Anne Seifert, a lifetime certified Bridges trainer, will provide insight for employers on understanding the challenges and strengths faced by current and future employees and how to create opportunities for success.
The registration fee of $20 is due June 12, and seating is limited. To register or for more information, please contact Sue Warren at 419-524-0733, ext. 229 or mwarren@toledodiocese.org.
The 1Richland Group evolved in 2014 as part of Catholic Charities’ “Do Something Project.” Based on the ideas in Robert Lupton’s book “Toxic Charity,” the group strives to help bridge the gap between employers, organizations who provide services to the community, and the individuals and employees in the local community. The 1Richland Group believes community transformation takes a community working together to become a catalyst for change.
