MANSFIELD: Pam Sager passed away Friday evening, June 5, 2014 in Country Court in Mount Vernon surrounded by her family. She was 65.
She was born March 13, 1950 to parents Edward & Mary Lou (Maley) Chrastina in Mansfield. On August 17, 1968, she married Jr. Sager and they shared 45 wonderful years of marriage until he passed away in 2013. They are together again.
Pam was a wonderful cook and worked at the V&M in Bellville where the whole town enjoyed her food. She also worked at Hitchman’s Market making lunches, in fact Pam was a hard worker her whole life and held jobs all around the Mansfield area.
In spare time, she took pleasure in tending to her garden (which seemed to grow larger each year, despite intentions to scale back) and canning the produce from it. She loved the feeling of warm sunshine on her skin, and the warmth of a crackling woodburning stove in her home. She enjoyed going to tractor pulls in Bolwing Green and pontoon rides on the lake in Pleasant Hill. She and her sisters had the best time going to the casino in Wheeling, WV to play the slot machines. But above all, Pam cherished time spent with friends and family (and grandkids!).
She and her husband were members of the American Legion Post #535 in Bellville and Post #257 in Loudonville and the AMVETS Post #43 in Bellville.
Pam is survived by her two children: Chris (Cassy) Sager of Mt. Vernon, Jessica Sager (Dwight Goon) of Greenwich; her husband’s son: Corey (Carrie) Oyster of Butler; seven grandchildren: Collin Sager, Mercedez Goon, Gabby Goon, Dwight Goon, Destiny Goon, Seth (Courtney) Oyster, and Rhianna Oyster; two great granddaughters Brylee and Kaelynn Oyster; four siblings: Linda (Gus) Palmer, Stephanie (Allen) Brindo, Joe (Marty) Chrastina, and Donna (Brandon) Smith; a sister-in-law Suzi (Dallas) Keesee; her best friend Sandy Ward of Butler, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. She will be especially missed by her little white dog Poo (he’s a Maltipoo).
In addition to her loving husband Jr., she was preceded in death by her parents and beloved mother-in-law Nola Sager.
Her family will receive friends 12-3 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2015 in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where a service honoring her life will begin at 3 p.m. Pastor Jon Priebe will officiate and burial will follow in Zion Cemetery at Four Corners near Butler.
Contributions in her memory will benefit her final expenses with excess funds going to Hospice of Knox County (make checks payable to Snyder Funeral Home); bring or send to the funeral home (P.O. Box 3085, Mansfield, Ohio 44904).
