BUCYRUS, oHIO–The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office along with Liberty Twp Volunteer Fire Department, New Washington Fire Department and Life Support Team EMS were dispatched to state Route 98 at the Brokensword Creek Thursday at approximately 11:16 a.m. in reference to a vehicle on fire.

The investigation found that a 25-year-old North Fairfield woman was southbound on state Route 98 north of Bucyrus and failed to negotiate a curve to the left. The woman, driving a 2002 Chevy Trail Blazer, overcorrected several times, causing the vehicle to travel off the south side of the roadway.

The vehicle impacted with the ditch causing the vehicle to roll. The vehicle came to a rest on its passenger’s side facing north and caught fire. It was fully engulfed on when first responders arrived.

The driver had to be extricated form the vehicle. Crawford County Coroner Dr. Michael Johnson responded to the scene. The woman died and an autopsy will be forthcoming from the Lucas County Coroner’s Office.

Carl’s Auto Sales recovered the vehicle. The crash remains under investigation.
