MANSFIELD, Ohio – The Mansfield site of the Kennedy Center’s Partners in Education program will offer a two-day Arts Integration Institute on Aug. 5-6. This professional development workshop is geared towards educators and administrators who are interested in using the arts as a teaching tool for common core subjects.

The institute will include four sessions with Kennedy Center Teaching Artist Karen Erickson: “Laying the Foundation: Defining Arts Integration,” “The Drama of Science,” “Drama: The Missing Link in Teaching Literacy,” and “Getting Started with Drama Integration: The Basics.”

The Arts Integration Institute will be held at the Renaissance from 9 to 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 5 and 6. Participants will receive up to 12 contact hours for professional development credit. Cost of registration is $150 per participant; full scholarships are available. Any interested participant should register with Chelsie Thompson no later than July 26 by contacting chelsie@mansfieldtickets.com or 419-522-2726, ext. 251.

Mansfield’s partnership with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Charles P. Hahn of Cleveland Financial Group. Mansfield was chosen in 2010 to join the Kennedy Center as one of only two partnership sites within Ohio, and is one of approximately 100 sites across the country.
