Carl F. Cotsamire, age 90 of Galion, passed away Friday morning, May 8, 2015 at Magnolia Terrace in Galion.
He was born August 12, 1924 in Crawford County and was the son of Melvin and Ruth (Guinther) Cotsamire. On July 27, 1947 he married Ruth Naomi (Brown) Cotsamire and she preceded him in death on June 8, 2014.
Carl is survived by his daughters, Linda (John) Gulick of Catawba Island and Paula (David) Dey of Kissimmee, Florida; his grandchildren, Mandy (Eric) Kent of Galion, Brandon (Lauren) Dey of University Heights, Anna (Eric) Yoder of Napoleon and Mariah (Roger) Hobbs of Panana City, Florida; his great-grandchildren, Cooper, Carly and Colby Kent and Benjamin and Vincent Hobbs, Aubrey Dey and Finn Yoder; siblings, Loren (Betty) Cotsamire of Loveland, CO. and Harold (Doris) Cotsamire of Ada and a sister-in-law Harriet Cotsamire of Galion.
He was a 1942 graduate of Whetstone School and worked at the former North Electric in Galion for 42 years, retiring in 1984. Carl was a long time member of the First United Church of Christ in Galion where he was a deacon, elder and taught Sunday school. He was also a member of the B.P.O. Elks Galion Lodge 1191. Carl and his wife, Ruth enjoyed Western Square Dancing and spent many of their winters in Florida. They attended the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Cocoa Beach, Fla. where he was a member of the Super Chefs. He also volunteered for the Council on Aging meals on wheels program in Ohio and Florida. Carl enjoyed golfing, gardening and shrimping.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Ed Cotsamire, Jim (Lucy) Cotsamire and an infant sister, Mary Cotsamire.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2015 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 12 at First United Church of Christ, 248 Harding Way West in Galion with Rev. Darrin Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
