Sharon Lea Harris

Sharon Lea Harris, 70, of Lucas, passed away Sunday morning, May 3, 2015, at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. She was born November 21, 1944, in Melvindale, Michigan, and was a Mansfield area resident for the past 40 years.

Sharon enjoyed cooking, landscaping and other yard work. Her home displayed her wonderful ability to grow a beautiful garden and she enjoyed decorating inside and out. Known affectionately as “The Crazy Cat Lady”-a title she found much humor in-Sharon was an avid cat lover and was known for taking in strays and caring for them.

She is survived by her husband, Don Harris; two sons, Jeff Harris (Melvin Wagner) of Mansfield and Steve Harris (Annette) of Louisville, KY; three grandchildren, Lindsey, Jesse and Jake Harris; her father, Wilford “Bill” Thornton of Grand Rapids, MI; a sister, Alice Barnes (Phil) of Grand Rapids, MI; a niece, Angie Scarloto (Mark) and nephew, Mike Barnes (Sara), both of Grand Rapids, MI. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Hughes Thornton; and grandparents.

A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at a later date. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
