Christian Leicht

Christian “Chris” Leicht, 80, of Galion, fell asleep on April 29, 2015 and is waiting for the return of his Lord Jesus Christ. Born June 11, 1934 in Yugoslavia, he was the son of Nikolaus and Magdalena (Bogner) Leicht. At an early age, Chris began working on farms to help support his family. At the age of 17, he became a tailor in Austria. Around that time, he and his family migrated to the United States and became citizens. He learned English by going to the theatre on a daily basis. Two years later at the age of 19, Chris was drafted into the Army and served two years. He married Carol B. Leicht on June 11, 1969.

A hard working, tough man, Chris became a pattern maker at Covert Pattern. He had no prior knowledge and was forced to learn on the job. He also worked at Galion Ironworks and later in life, was self employed, owning and managing apartments. A Seventh Day Adventist, Chris believed in the coming of his Lord and enjoyed giving Bible studies right up to his last waking breath. He continued his mission for Christ until the end.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Carol Leicht; children, Scott Leicht, Joe Leicht, Yolanda Coyl, Beth Anne (Jesse) Jones, and R. Carol (Leo) Contreras; grandchildren, Niki Leicht, Emily Leicht, Kera (Matt) Dougherty, Michelle Brown, FayeAnna, Autumn, and Christian Jones, and Nikolaus, and JP Moore; great-grandchildren, Sean, Vance, Griffin, and Braylen; sisters, Katie Ries and Annie (Martin) Bohland; and brothers, Peter (Mary) Leicht and Steve Leicht.

Along with his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his brothers, Nikolaus Jr. and Joe Leicht.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 7 p.m. at Blooming Grove Seventh Day Adventist, 9743 County Road 20, Galion, conducted by Pastor Richard Baldwin. Family and friends are invited to visit for two hours prior to the service, from 5-7 p.m at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the family, to be put into a fund for the Living Springs Orphanage in India.
