Mary F. Aplas, age 98 of Wooster and former Galion resident passed away Wednesday evening, April 29, 2015 at West View Healthy Living in Wooster. She had been a resident there since June 2014.

She was born September 20, 1916 in Sterling, Colorado and was the daughter of Homer and Elva (Kelly) Kelly. On August 1, 1943 Mary married Robert Aplas in Brownwood, Texas and he preceded her in death on July 12, 2001.

Mary was 1934 graduate of Galion High School and member of the former First United Methodist Church, now Christ United Methodist Church in Galion. She worked as a beautician for many years. Mary was a life member of the AMVETS Polk Township Post 1979 auxiliary, American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4329 auxiliary all of Galion. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed participating in bowling leagues.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Sue & David Fleiner of Bluffton, SC; her daughter-in-law, Suellen Aplas of Wooster; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her son, William Charles “Bill” Aplas; her three brothers, Rex, Ralph and Clyde Kelly and her two sisters, Faye Lauer and Wilma Beyer.

There will be no visitation or memorial service at this time.
