Shirley C. Zents

Shirley C. Zents, 78, of Crestline, died April 29, 2015. Born April 8, 1937 in Sandusky, she was the daughter of Edward Henry and Bernice (Zeller) Gurtz. Shirley loved children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was a lifelong babysitter. She was blessed to nurture 42 children over the years. Visiting and collecting lighthouses was one of her favorite past times and she also enjoyed working in her flower gardens. Shirley was active at St. Matthew Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, and more recently, attended St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her husband, Charles Zents, whom she married June 23, 1957; daughters, Diane (Wayne) Ward and Debra Catlett; grandchildren, Leslie (Roger Olar) Ward, Tiffany (George) Goad, Amber Ward, and Daniel (Ashlee) Catlett; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Zents; grandson, Joshua Catlett; extended family member, Greg Catlett; and brother, Robert Gurtz.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, May 1, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2010 Park Avenue West, Ontario, conducted by Pastor Carol Kilgore. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
