Richard Lee “Dick” Gray, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away into eternal rest on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at UPMC Medical Center, Altoona, PA surrounded by his family. He was 81.

He was born December 1, 1933 the son of the late Romayne (Kirkland) Mercer and Robert Thomas Gray. He first married Beatrice Clever and on November 5, 1976, married Rose Marie Rose, who preceded him in death April 24, 2009.

Surviving are his children: Richard (Linda) Gray, Claudia (Richard) Anderson, Douglas (Pamela) Gray all of Altoona, PA and Amy (David) Stoy of Harrisburg, PA; 12 Grandchildren: Aaron, Leah, Lydia, Jeffrey, Eric, Brian, Danielle, Nathaniel, Casey, David, Dylan and Dakota; and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Robert Gray of Mansfield; a niece Roconna Lamb of Oil City, PA, and his children’s mother Beatrice Dorminy of Altoona, PA.

Dick was a 1952 graduate of Mansfield Senior High. Upon graduation he entered the Naval Reserves. He retired from Nickels Bakery in 1990 with 30 years of faithful service. Dick was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Mansfield.

Dick was a “people person” and knew everyone in town. In his retirement he truly enjoyed his friendships and his McDonald’s breakfast gang. He also enjoyed attending local high school sporting events and was an avid Browns fan. Dick was a wonderful father, and had such pride in his grandchildren and great grandchildren, always supporting all of their endeavors. He will be greatly missed.

His family will receive friends Friday, April 17, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where his funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Pastor DeWayne Smith will officiate. In lieu of flowers please pay forward an act of kindness for a friend or stranger, in memory of Dick.
