BELLVILLE, Ohio–The recent meth (methamphetamine) lab incident on Honey Creek Road, south of Bellville, prompted Bellville Police Chief Ron Willey to encourage people to be proactive in reporting things they see.
“The meth lab found in a home on Honey Creek Road was a very dangerous situation. Meth is very dangerous to manufacture and the fumes can be deadly. We worked in collaboration with METRICH to eradicate the lab,” said Willey.
Information that lead to the search warrant came in part from tips for the public.
“We are very appreciative of that. These cases sometimes take time to develop. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t see immediate results; we will move as fast as we can but we want to be sure when we do, that it sticks. We have to establish proof and that takes time. I encourage everyone to report what they see, Willey said.
“We need community involvement; don’t hesitate to send tips to us. You can remain anonymous, call us and leave a message. The increase in thefts and other crimes is related to the increase in the use of drugs. People are dying; we have to take a stand. We need your help. We are currently struggling with manpower issues and we’re stretched to the limits. We’ll do everything in our power to keep the community safe but we need your help. Kids are at risk,” Chief Willey said.
