Karl Kirst, 83, of Mansfield, died April 5, 2015. Born October 26, 1931 in Verbas, Yugoslavia, he was the son of Friederick “Fritz” and Margaret (Noll) Kirst. Karl worked as the maintenance man at Lumbermans/Prudential Insurance in Mansfield for 35 years. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and doing yard work. Karl was a member of First English Lutheran Church and the Mansfield Liederkranz.
Surviving are his wife, Josephine Kirst; sons, Karl Kirst Jr. of Mansfield and Fred (Vickie) Kirst of Greenbrier, Arkansas; grandchildren, Talisa (Brian) Swindle of Greenbrier, Arkansas, Margaret (Bob) Dujmovic of Baltimore, Maryland, and Gretchen (Juan Galvan) Kirst of Chicago, Illinois; twelve great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Anna Kirst of Mansfield; brother-in-law, Leo (Donna) Fuchs of Canton, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Karl was preceded in death by his brother, Erwin Kirst.
A private burial will be held in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family of Karl Kirst.
