Ruth H. Gruber, 94 of Galion passed away Saturday morning, March 28, 2015 at Court House Manor, Washington Court House where she had resided for the past year.
She was born October 9, 1920 in Marion and was the daughter of Frank and Emma (Croft) Hinaman.
On August 17, 1941 she married Warren C. Gruber and they enjoyed over 50 years of marriage until his passing on June 6, 1992.
Ruth was a 1938 graduate of Marion Harding High School and went on to graduate from the Ohio State School of Cosmetology. She was a secretary/clerk for the Union Store on the Square in Mt. Gilead until her retirement in 1987. Ruth raised her family in Morrow County and moved to Galion in 1990. She was an active member of the First United Church of Christ, Galion belonging to the Bethany and Dawn Circles. Ruth accumulated over 6000 volunteer hours with the TWIG#2 Auxiliary at Galion Community Hospital.
She is survived by her children, Donald (Jackie) Gruber of Jacksonville, TX, John (Sandra) Gruber of New Holland and William (Sue) Gruber of Fremont; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; her sister Louise Coldwell of Sebring and a sister-in-law, Jane Laucher of Marion.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Samuel, Robert, LeRoy, Raymond and Paul Hinaman and a daughter-in-law Jan Gruber.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Home, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 12 noon, Wednesday with Rev. Darrin Harvey officiating. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Church of Christ or the Court House Manor resident activity fund in care of the funeral home.
