The Ohio Cardinal Conference (OCC) has announced that Mount Vernon City Schools has accepted the invitation to join the Ohio Cardinal Conference beginning 2016/2017 school year.
“We look forward to working with Superintendent Bill Seder, Principal Kathy Kasler and Athletic Director Mark Shively and their staff in the coming years. We are excited to have the Mt. Vernon community involved in our academic and extra-curricular events, read the announcement from OCC Commissioner Ron Dessecker.
“Mt Vernon will make the Ohio Cardinal Conference a strong conference for years to come, with this partnership, we will build new opportunities of competition and the spirit of good sportsmanship.”
The OCC began competitive play in the fall of 2003 with Ashland, Lexington, Mansfield Madison, Mansfield Senior, and Orrville, West Holmes and Wooster schools. Clear Fork joined in 2004.
