MANSFIELD, Ohio – Gracie “Dorcas” Wynn, 92, of Mansfield, died March 22, 2015. Born November 29, 1922 in Prestonsburg, KY, she was the daughter of James “Blackhawk” and Rhoda Shepherd. Gracie worked as one of the Rosie the Riveters during WWII at Westinghouse. A true homemaker, she was a fantastic cook who loved to garden and was very good at sewing and needlework. Her life revolved around her family.
Surviving are her children, James (Brenda) Wynn of Ontario, Dorothy (Wesley) Glasgow of Sterling Heights, MI, and Edward Wynn of Mansfield; grandchildren, Brian Wynn of Kent, OH, Michael Wynn of Philadelphia, PA, Robert Wynn of Mansfield, Matthew Glasgow of Madison Heights, MI, Andrea Vohs of Shelby Township, MI, Allison Glasgow of Queens, NY, Darrell Glasgow of Queens, NY, Edward Wynn Jr. of Mansfield, Daniel Wynn of Mansfield, Ashley Wynn of Mansfield, Patience Cochran of Butler, Angel Wynn of Texas, and Josh Wynn; fifteen great-grandchildren; sister, Mazel Miley of Mansfield, brothers, William Shepherd of Ontario, Riley Shepherd of Loudonville, and Dial Shepherd of Columbus; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Wynn; sons, Arthur Wynn and Russell Wynn; sister, Daily Barnes; and brothers, Floyd Shepherd, Diamond Shepherd, and Tom Shepherd.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Pastor Robert Kurtz. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the organization of the donor’s choice.
