MANSFIELD, Ohio–Students at Mansfield Christian School show school spirit in their newest video, “Ready Set Go.” The video debuted Friday, March 13 on YouTube.

After last year’s release of the “Happy in Mansfield” video, MCS was asked by the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) to create another video demonstrating school spirit to be shown at the boys and girls final four state championship basketball games at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, said Doug Taylor, MCS athletic director and video coordinator.

Filming of the three-minute-and-thirty-seven-second video occurred in the fall of last year and lasted just one day, said Taylor. Momentum Media, Inc. edited and produced the video.

Almost every student at MCS is in the video, Taylor said. “It features a little bit of everything–athletics, band, find arts…but the main thing is that it focuses on our school spirit,” he said. The video also features the song “Ready Set Go” by Royal Tailor.

“MCS is a family; everyone supports everyone in our school and I think the video does a good job of showcasing that family feel,” he said.

Kathy Vrooman, MCS teacher and video creative director, said the students were hands-on in the making of the video. “We tried to let it be student-oriented,” she said.

Sophomore Mya Taylor helped direct as she walked to each filming spot with a boom box that played the featured song. “It was fun getting to help out and see all the kids participate,” she said.

“Mya helped with the first video,” noted Vrooman, “so she knew the demands and was a great help.”

Sophomore Noah Rau crossed an item off his bucket list through his participation in the video. He’s shown spinning in a chair down the school hallway, which is something he’s always dreamt of doing, he said.

Fun

Vrooman said they hope to continue making these fun videos each school year.
