Harlan E. Taylor, 87, of Mansfield, died March 18, 2015. Born July 9, 1927 in Springfield Township, he was the son of Harlan W. and Rhea May (Pifer) Taylor. Harlan graduated from Ontario High School in 1945. After high school, he enlisted and served in the United States Army for four years. In 1951, he went to work for and retire from Shaffer Valve after 41 years of service. A fair minded and caring gentleman, he was very easy going. In his free time, Harlan enjoyed outdoor activities and was a proud member and supporter of the NRA.
Surviving are his daughter, Christine (Jon) Best of Lexington; son, Harlan S. Taylor of Warren, OH; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; brother, Robert V. (Bonnie) Taylor of Fredericktown; sister-in-law, Helen Taylor of Mansfield; and brother-in-law, Edmond Cieslak of Ontario.
Along with his parents, Harlan was preceded in death by his wife Gertruda Taylor, who died in 1993; son, Alan Taylor, in 2011; two brothers; two sisters; and daughter-in-law, Sherry Taylor, in 1985.
There will be no services held at this time. Burial will take place at a later date in Mansfield Memorial Park. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family of Harlan E. Taylor.
