SHELBY, Ohio – Tickets are now available for our annual rade spring dance concert. The Richland Academy dancers will perform Saturday, March 21 at 7 p.m. at the Shelby High School’s Performing Arts Center in Shelby. Tickets are available for $13 for adults and $7 for students and seniors.
This year’s performance will feature four companies; rade, rade jr., radkidz, and radkidz2 performing pieces in classical ballet, jazz, tap, and modern, as well as three student choreography pieces and Daylin Williams’ senior solo.
The show will begin with 30 dancers on stage performing to Vivaldi’s “Concerto in D Minor Part 1”, which has opened the show for the last five years.
Excerpts from some classical ballets will include “Paquita,” “La Fille Mal Gardee,” and a restaging of “The Dying Swan” which was choreographed by Mikhail Fokine for the great ballerina Anna Pavlova.
This show highlights student’s talent and ability to dance many different techniques and styles, as well as the great creativity of the choreographers.
Kelsey Gorman will perform an “Uptown Funk” tap number and “Coffee Break” from the hit Broadway musical “How to Succeed in Business.”
Sarah Horrigan-Ramos will have dancers performing to her favorite Prince songs.
Marden Ramos’ neo classical choreography pushes his dancers to perform at their highest ability. Whether a group piece, duet or solo; his choreography, which often reflects so much of his personal story, will send the audience on an emotional journey through music and movement.
