Charles Malcolm "Mack" Clagg

Charles Malcolm “Mack” Clagg, age 78, died Wednesday morning, March 4, 2015, at the Hospice House in Ashland.

Born April 27, 1936 in Louisa, KY to Raymond and Lula Ethel (Ramey) Clagg, he had been a Shelby resident the majority of his life. Mack was a 1954 graduate of Shiloh High School and had retired from Stone Container in Mansfield. He was a member of the Mansfield Stewart Road Church of God where he was a Sunday School superintendent. Mack loved fishing, gardening with his wife and reading, especially his Bible.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Betty (Havens) Clagg, whom he married June 16, 1973; his daughter, Anita (Thomas) Wheitner of Shelby; four grandchildren, Emellia (fiance James), Austin, Melinda and Geordan; one great grandson, William; five brothers, Samuel (Nina) and Don (Twyla) Clagg of Wilder, Idaho; John Daniel (Wanda) Clagg of Mansfield; Rev. Tim (Paulette) Clagg of Farmer City, Illinois; and Rev. Ron (Dione) Clagg of Caldwell, Idaho; two sisters, Lorene Patrick of Shelby and Bonnie Hedrick of Wilder, Idaho; two brothers-in-law, Junior Wagner of Shelby and Marcus Hamilton of Idaho; brother and sister-in-law, Lee & Sue Havens of Hamilton; sister-in-law, Arlene Hutten of Oxford, numerous nieces and nephews and several cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Clifford (Bureta), Paul David (Donna), Willard and Jerry Clagg; four sisters; Violet Wagoner, Mabel Hamilton, Mary Alice and Sharon Clagg; two brothers-in-law, Eugene Havens and Oliver Patrick and his father and mother-in-law, Herbert & Ruth Havens.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015, at the Mansfield Stewart Road Church of God, 1425 N. Stewart Road, Mansfield. Rev. Timothy Clagg, Mack’s brother, and Rev. Sam Wright will officiate with interment in Maple Grove Cemetery, New Haven. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Memorial expressions may be made to the Richland County Relay for Life team “Caregivers for Hope”.
