MANSFIELD, Ohio – Christine Libby of Alta Florist and Greenhouse will present “Seeds and More” at the 5th Annual Raising Richland Community Garden Summit. She will explain how to start, save and store seeds. Libby will also address which seed varieties grow best in our area, how to buy seeds, and much more.

Libby moved to Ohio from Maine with seven boxes of bare root perennials. She began working at Alta Greenhouse in the spring of 1996 where she is an herb and perennial grower. At home, she is busy growing tropical plants, succulents and 76 houseplants of various sizes.

Libby tends to over 100 clumps of daylilies and other perennials on her property. Her husband is most often heard saying “We don’t need any more plants!” and of course she disagrees.

The Raising Richland Community Garden Summit, which is free and open to all, will be held Thursday, March 19 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Longview Center, located at 1495 W. Longview, Mansfield.

The event is sponsored by the North End Community Improvement Collaborative (NECIC), Richland County Creating Healthy Communities, Richland County Master Gardeners, and The Ohio State University Extension.
