Willard L. Zimmer, 91, of Lewisville, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Monday, February 16, 2015.
Willard was born on June 2, 1923, in Gladwin, MI, to Roy and Fern (Marshall) Zimmer. Willard married his sweetheart, Lois (Fields) Zimmer on October 13, 1947, and together, they served the Lord faithfully all of their lives. Willard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, and later became a missionary to the military with Missions to Military, where he and his wife served for 30 years. Willard and Lois were members of Mansfield Baptist Temple, and served in both the visitation and bus ministries. He loved his family and his Lord, and will be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; three children, Janet S. (Kent) Robacker, missionaries currently serving in Belarus, James R. (Kyla) Zimmer of Lewisville, NC, and Ronald R. (Charlene) Zimmer of Nescopeck, PA; 11grandchildren; and 12great-grandchildren.
Willard was preceded in death by his parents; oldest son, Robert A. Zimmer; and sister and brother-in-law, Clara May and Gerald Robinson.
Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Mansfield Baptist Temple, 752 N. Stewart Rd., Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Rob Kurtz officiating. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2015, at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH.
