Pauline Watkins, age 80, resident of Shelby, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in Hillside Acres Nursing Home, Willard.
Born May 22, 1934 in Rowan County, KY to William F. and Bertha Jones, she had been a Richland County resident for most of her life. A former employee of Pioneer Rubber she later worked as a home health aid for twenty years. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mansfield and loved to read, especially her Bible.
Survivors include her son, James (Margaret) Highlander of Shelby; daughter, Tracey (Donald) Brooks of Shelby; four grandchildren, James Highlander, Jr., Amy Highlander, Maranda Diener and Thomas Diener; two great-grandsons; her sister, Maxine (Charles) Thompson of Renick, WV; several nieces and nephews including Andy and Sue Knoll of Willard, Rosetta Harp of Norwalk, Douglas and Ronald Tolliver, both of Greenwich.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Highlander, second husband, Hugh Watkins, one sister, Aline Oney and four brothers, Lacey, William, Claude and Charles Jones.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2015 at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Chaplain Dan Clouse, of Southern Care Hospice, will officiate with interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Willard.
