Xanadu

MANSFIELD, OHIO. The Renaissance Theatre announces that it has just added two additional performances of the smash Broadway hit Xanadu on Friday, Feb. 27 and Saturday, Feb. 28 at 8 p.m. The other performances are February 13,14, 20 and 21 with all performances at 8 p.m. in the Renaissance Theatre.

Based on the memorably campy Olivia Newton John 1980 motion picture, Xanadu features an entire score of unforgettable hits by ELO, including Have You Ever Been Mellow, Evil Woman, Magic, Suddenly, Xanadu, and many more. Hailed by critics as “the most fun you’ll have all year!” and “Irresistible! Performed mostly on roller skates and set at the height of the disco era, the story revolves around a frustrated artist, Sonny Malone, who, with the help of the nine classical Greek muses, works to fulfill his dream of opening Xanadu, a roller disco.

Along the way, he falls in love with the Clio, the head muse, who has disguised herself as a blond, Australian pop singer – not unlike Olivia Newton John – who rolls her way into his heart and saves the day. Hilarious nonsense and nonstop musical fun all the way, Xanadu is the perfect show to drive away your winter blues!

The talented local cast includes Madeline Beer as Clio/Kira, Scott Schag as Sonny, Condrea Webber as Melpomene/Medusa, Emily Stack as Calliope/Aphrodite, Colton Penwell as Danny, Louie Kurtzman as Thalia/Young Danny, Tucker Boggs as Terpsicore/Centaur, Lori Turner as Euterpe/Thetis and Hannah Bloir as Erato, Hera. Xanadu will be directed by Renaissance Artist Director, Michael Thomas, with musical direction by Deborah Logan, scenic design by Chad Eaton, costume design by Dauphne Maloney and choreography by Emily Stack.

Xanadu will be performed in the Renaissance stage-on-stage seating. Due to the limited seating on the stage, most shows sell out, so get your tickets today by calling 419-522-2726 or order online at MansfieldTickets.com.
