CLEVELAND, Ohio (Updated Jan. 31, 2:15 p.m.) – Heavy snow accumulating as much as 8-12 inches is possible Sunday into Monday morning. Snow will begin early Sunday morning and continue into Sunday night and will be heavy at times between noon on Sunday and until around 9 p.m. However, there remains some uncertainty in the track of this storm which will influence where the heaviest snow will occur.
Arctic air will spill into the region on the west side of the low front Sunday night into Monday morning. Gusty winds to 35 mph will cause drifting and blowing snow. Hazardous travel conditions are expected due to reduced visibility and snow accumulation. Travelers should use extreme caution if travel is unavoidable.
Local counties impacted include Ashland, Crawford, Knox, Morrow, and Richland.
The Winter Storm Watch has been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning indcating that significant amounts of snow are expected or occurring.
The National Weather Service report explains that a low pressure system will track out of the southern plains on Sunday and merge with another system dropping southeast out of Canada. The snow will taper off from west to east late Sunday night into Monday morning.
