The Richland County Sheriff’s Office is in the process of researching its history to create displays within the records hallway of the sheriff’s office for public display. The sheriff’s office is asking previous employees, families of those previous employees, and the public to donate or loan artifacts and memorabilia to the office for display. Photographs, articles and documents are also needed.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Office was established in 1813. The office has a Law Enforcement and Corrections Divisions and specialty units within those divisions. This year, former Deputy Edward Ernsberger donated his uniform shirt that he was wearing when he was shot in the chest by an escaped convict in 1984. The uniform shirt will be displayed at the office.
Please contact Ericka Spicer at the Richland County Sheriff’s Office, phone 419-774-3559 to donate or submit items.
