Cathrine Lee Howell

Cathrine Lee Howell, 80, of Mansfield, died Monday morning, January 19, 2015, at her home. She was born March 15, 1934, in Brownsville, Tennessee, to the late Lucy (Carter) Harris and John L. Walker. 

Cathrine was funny, inspiring, and outspoken. She was a born again Christian and was there for others when they were grieving. Cathrine loved sharing her knowledge of the Bible and taught many classes in the church. She enjoyed singing to the Lord She was a member of Power House Worship Center. She had a special love for children. 

Cathrine was a devoted mother and protected her children. Many people are blessed by the legacy she leaves behind. She had a wonderful sense of humor. Her hobbies included flowers and gardening, fishing, and going to garage sales. She loved cats and dogs. She also devoted time to visiting those in the hospital. 

She is survived by nine children, Eddie (Ruthie) Howell, Jerry Howell (Mary Delores Davis) John L. Howell, Gilbert W. (Jean) Howell, David (Jeannette) Howell, Edmond (Leann) Howell; Edie (Pastor James Jr.) Watkins, Jeneva (Birdo) Armistead and Cathrine Howell; 26 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond Howell, Jr.; a brother, JC Walker. 

A Home Going Celebration will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at The Breath of Life Church, 77 N. Walker Avenue., Mansfield with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
