LEXINGTON: Where flowers bloom, so does hope and love. Judy Boggs tended to her flower beds – she never had “too many flowers” – and even more so cared for her family. Described as the “sweetest person on earth” who never put herself first, Judy will be remembered for her love and devotion to others.
Judy tends to heavenly gardens as the Lord called her to Himself in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 3, 2015 from Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. She was 77.
Born June 16, 1937 in Mansfield to Parents Russel W. and Nora (Thayer) Parker, she was graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1955.
On November 7, 1959 she married Edwin E. Boggs, and together they raised a family in Lexington, Judy focusing on homemaking. She was a member of Lexington Grace Brethren Church and had formerly served as a Sunday school teacher.
A former member of Troy Township Fire Department Auxiliary, she served several years as a dispatcher for the department.
Judy was a gifted artist and enjoyed painting landscapes with oil.
She and Ed enjoyed camping (first in tents and later RVs) and boating, and spent the past 17 years wintering in Harlingen, Texas. At Tropic Winds RV Resort, Judy helped serve communion for the Sunday worship services.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years Edwin Boggs; their children Skip Boggs of Mansfield; Shelley & Bart Griffith of Lexington, Steve & Robin Boggs of Lexington and Sam & Linda Boggs of Huntington, IN; seven grandchildren; two great grandsons; a sister Jeannette Kay Baker in Shelby; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Carmie; sisters Elaine Jones and Mary “Mickey” Filipeli and a brother Paul Hellinger, Jr.
The Boggs family will receive friends Friday, January 9, 2015 from 4 to 6 p.m. in Lexington Grace Brethren Church, 215 West Main Street, Lexington, where her memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. Pastor Matthew Rupple will officiate.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the church.
