Mansfield Christian Flames took on the Mt. Gilead Indians in girls varsity basketball on Dec. 27. The Flames had a big burst in the fourth quarter picked up a 44-34 win.
Mt. Gilead lead by a basket after one quarter, 10-8. MCS surged back to go into halftime 20-17. By the end of three, the Flames held a 28-26 lead. A 16-8 fourth quarter, put the Flames in command and handed them their third win on the season.
The Flames enjoyed a big night in the post. Katie Ritz netted a game high 18 points along with 7 rebounds. Addie Daugherty scored 14 points, collected 14 rebounds and blocked 3 shots. Charlinta Adkins added four points and 11 rebounds.
Hope Hack led scoring for Mt. Gilead with 11 points. Maddi Swihart added 10 points.
The Flames move to 3-4 on the year. They will face Galion on Jan. 5.
