Allen “Al” B. Grose, 74, of Mansfield, died early Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Meadowview Care Center in Wadsworth, Ohio. He was born November 27, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio, the only child of the late Allen B. and Beatrice (Wynn) Grose.

Al was very caring and his family was most important to him. In 1988, he saved a little boy from a bear at Kingsgate Mall and was honored by the City of Mansfield with a key to the city. He retired from the Richland County Garage where he worked as a truck driver. In his spare time, he enjoyed CB radio communications, electronics, woodworking, and making various crafts. Al was a “jack of all trades” and at one time built pool tables at Cleveland Billiards. He was Past President of Voices of Mansfield and leaves behind many treasured friends.

Al is survived by nine daughters, Sandra, Patricia, Charlene, Robin, Wanda, Mary Ann, Betty, Lisa and Beatrice; nine sons, Allen, Alvin, Albert, Alden, Alex, Alton, Alphonso, Alonzo, and Ali; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Minister Lisa Howard will conduct the service.
