Kenneth A. Yosick

Kenneth A. Yosick, age 83, resident of Shelby, died Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

Born June 12, 1931 in Shelby to Frank and Lillian (Soldan) Yosick he had been a lifelong Shelby resident. A 1949 graduate of Shelby High School, he served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Ken was employed with the former Wilkins Air Force Depot, Miller Products and Alex Murray Construction and was a 38 year employee of PPG Industries in Crestline retiring in 1982. He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the American Legion O’Brien Post #326. A bingo enthusiast, he enjoyed bird watching and cherished the time spent with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Susie (Carpenter)Yosick, whom he wed November 8, 1952; two sons, David (Frances) Yosick of Bellville and Richard (Kathy) Yosick of Columbia, SC; two daughters, Ruth (Tim) Detillion of Shelby and Diana (Jim) Haley of Shelby; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Paul (Rosanna) Yosick of Fairborn, OH, John (Aline) Yosick of Huntington Beach, CA, and Thomas (Doris) Yosick of Hanover, PA; two sisters, Sister Irene Yosick, O.S.F. of Shelby; and Joan Courtney of Grove City, OH, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Yosick, Jr. in 1982, his daughter, Annette Borgelt in 1983, grandson, Richard “Ricky” Yosick, Jr.; great-grandson, Troy Lee Detillion, two brothers, Dennis and Robert Yosick, twin sisters, Patricia Lysinger and Sister Martha Ann Yosick, sister-in-law, Janice Yosick and brother-in-law, Thomas Courtney.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2014 at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Father James Sanford will officiate with interment to follow in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. Memorial expressions may be made in Kenneth’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
