Clarabeth Ann (Deever) Whims, 78, of Crestline, died peacefully and comfortably Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at her home after a long illness. She went on to her Heavenly home surrounded by her loved ones.
Beth was born in Ashland on March 30, 1936 to the late Hencil and Betty (Whitmore) Deever. She married Virgil G. Whims on March 14, 1964 and he survives her. They were married over fifty years.
In 1996, Beth retired from the Internal Revenue Service as a Taxpayer Representative after 26 years of service. She was a member of the Grace Evangelical Free Church in Mansfield. Beth loved her ipad, playing cards, and traveling. She collected antiques, elephants and butterflies. Beth was a wonderful, loving and caring wife. She never met a stranger and loved everyone. She was a very caring and loyal caregiver, especially to family and close friends. Beth was a confidant to her brother.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her stepchildren, Cheryl and Peter Smith of Daphne, AL, Chris and Larry Dailey of Frostproof, FL, and Cathy and Jimmy McDonald of Theodore, AL; her five grandchildren, Katie (Robert) Sweet, Laura Smith, Spencer (Kelly) McDonald, Kyle Smith, and Joshua (Cary) Dailey; her two great-granddaughters, Zoe Sweet and Khloe Sweet, her brother, Dan and Sharon Deever of Mansfield; her sister, Donna and Peter Hathaway of Weston, CT; her nephews, Scott Deever, John, Todd, and Brent Hathaway and their families, and her niece, Amy (Deever) Kochera and her family.
Friends may call on Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, 223 West Main St., Crestline, Ohio 44827. Funeral services will be held at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home following visitation at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Denny Nezrick officiating. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery.
