Richard M. “Dick” Pfleiderer, 87, of Mansfield passed away Monday, December 8, 2014 in the emergency department of Ohio Health MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a brief illness.
The son of Fred and Glenna (McConnell) Pfleiderer, Richard was born July 17, 1927 in Shelby. For 35 years Dick worked for Ohio Brass. Following retirement he worked at Main Street United Methodist Church where he was also a faithful member.
An outdoorsman, Dick enjoyed camping with his family, and fishing with his son at Lake Erie, and in Canada. He also spent many weekends relaxing on the calm beaches of Lake Erie.
Loved by many, Dick was friendly. Having never met a stranger, he genuinely enjoyed talking to and meeting new people. Outgoing, many days he’d relax on his front yard swing waving and saying hi to passers-byer.
A loving husband, father and grandfather Dick’s kind spirit will continue to shine in the lives of his precious family.
Dick is survived by his loving wife Joan (Kunkle) Pfleiderer of Mansfield; sons David (Debbie) Pfleiderer and Jeffrey Pfleiderer all of Mansfield, and daughter Kathleen (Randall) Mitchell of New Jersey; granddaughter Abby Pfleiderer and her fiancé Brian Myers and grandson Ezra (Ania) Ardolino; great granddaughters Hanna, Dalila, and Somer; nieces, nephews and extended family.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his granddaughter Vicky Pfleiderer, brother Hugh Pfleiderer and sister Eileen Pfleiderer.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 3-5 p.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Friday from 10-11 a.m. in Main Street United Methodist Church, 230 South Main Street, Mansfield where funeral services celebrating the life of Richard M. Pfleiderer will be held at11 a.m. Rev. DeWayne Smith and Rev. Allen Rose will officiate and burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Main Street United Methodist Church may be made through the funeral home.
