David Lautsbaugh

David J. Lautsbaugh, 94, of Mansfield, died Friday morning, November 28, 2014, in Winchester Terrace Nursing Home. He was born Oct. 11, 1920, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Miriam (Ecker) and Guy H. Lautsbaugh.

He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School and Ohio Northern University. David worked alongside his father at Lautsbaugh Pharmacy on the square, then went to MedCentral Mansfield, where he retired as Chief of Pharmacy. An avid golfer, he belonged to several leagues throughout the years and enjoyed playing cards. David was an avid sports fan, following the Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeyes.

David was a member of the Mansfield Liederkranz, Moose, Grotto, and Men’s Garden Club at Kingwood Center. He was member of the Venus Lodge #152, F. & A.M. for 65 years.

He is survived by two children, Steven (Terri) Lautsbaugh of West Covina, CA and Susan Pegg of Ontario; three grandchildren, Ryan (Marcie) Pegg of Oviedo, FL, Kevin Lautsbaugh and Shelley Lautsbaugh, both of Hacienda Heights, CA; a great-granddaughter who was the light of his life, Olivia Pegg.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Ryan Lautsbaugh in 2007.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 5, 2014 at 7 p.m. in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. with a Masonic service given by the Venus Lodge. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home. A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Thompson Cemetery in Hancock County, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army.
