Galion Fire Chief Phil Jackson issued a press release Tuesday night regarding a tragic fire in Galion. The Galion Fire Department was dispatched at 5:52 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov 18. A mobile home was on fire at 354 Second Avenue, Galion.

Upon arrival at 5:56 p.m., crews found a fully engulfed structure where three reported victims were trapped inside. Mutual aid was requested and received from Bucyrus Fire Department, Crestline Fire Department, and Jefferson Township fire departments, as well as the Crawford County Red Cross.

A 3-year-old female victim was pulled from the fire and transported by the Galion Fire Department to Galion Hospital where she subsequently passed away. The remaining two victims, including a 23-year-old male and a 5-year-old male died at the scene.

The names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of the families.

The Crawford County Coroner’s office has been called to the scene as well as the State of Ohio Fire Marshall’s office to assist in the investigation of the cause and origin.

At this time the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
