Penn Station East Coast Subs, known for its freshly grilled sandwiches, is coming to Ontario.

Phil Adkins, restaurant manager, is leasing roughly 1,790 square-feet of space at the shopping plaza off Walker Lake Road to house the restaurant. It will be located near Menchie’s and Starbucks at 2166 Walker Lake Road.

Alterations and renovations began near the end of October and the restaurant is projected to open the third week of December, Adkins said.

Adkins owns and operates two other Penn Station restaurants in Bowling Green and Findlay, Ohio. He said he wanted to open a third restaurant in the Ontario area to create more exposure for the business. “[Penn Station] is not really known on the eastern side of the state; it’s mainly known on the western side, so we’re hoping to get the name out there more,” he said.

Describing the products that will be offered he said, “Everything we do is fresh, from the Philly Cheesesteak subs to the fresh-cut fries and fresh-squeezed lemonade.”

Penn Station was originally founded in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1985. It’s described as an upscale, fast-casual restaurant chain.

Penn Station has approximately 270 restaurants in 13 states including Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
