On October 31 at approximately 10:10 p.m., the Mansfield Police Department contacted the METRICH Enforcement Unit requesting assistance with a drug investigation. Mansfield Police had responded to 925 Brookfield Drive Apt. 8 for a disturbance complaint and during their investigation the officers observed drugs inside of the apartment in plain view.

METRICH detectives drafted a search warrant, which was signed by the Judge Frank Ardis. The METRICH Enforcement Unit, assisted by officers from the Mansfield Police Department executed the search warrant.

During the search warrant, detectives seized approximately 654 grams of marijuana, 6.5 grams of crack cocaine and a Kahr .40 caliber handgun. The marijuana had an estimated street value of $1,000.

The tenant of the apartment, Zachary Scaggs, was arrested and incarcerated at the Richland County Jail.
