Harley N. “Steve” Lust, 93, of Galion, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at home after declining health.
Born in Sulphur Springs, Ohio, he was the son of Lloyd Lust and Florence Harley. He married Margaret “Peg” (Sipes) Flowers Lust on June 27, 2004 and she survives. His first wife, Jean E. (Huy) Lust who he married December 31, 1944 preceded him in death April 13, 2000.
Steve was a graduate of Tiro High School in 1939 and served with the United States Army during World War II. He worked as Personnel Manager for many years at the former Peabody-Galion, retiring after 32 years. Steve was a member of Christ United Methodist Church; Galion Lodge 414 F & AM; Order of Eastern Star, Bucyrus Chapter 3; where he was a past Patron; Galion Shrine Club, American Legion Scarbrough Post 243, Galion; and Crawford County Farm Bureau. He was a volunteer for HomeCare Matters and served on the Polk Township Zoning Board. Steve enjoyed golfing, woodworking, yard work and was an avid animal lover.
In addition to his wife, Peg, he is survived by a daughter, Polly (Dale) Baumann of Blanchester; daughter-in-law, Karen Chafin of Circleville; step-children, Jeff (Karen) Flowers of Galion, Nancy (Rick) Shaw of Ontario and Diana (Gary) Garver of Ontario; grandchildren, Jeff (Kim) Reed of Wilmington and Aubrey (Brian) Knoblauch of Harrisburg, Ohio; two great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 26 step- great-grandchildren and his faithful companion, Libby
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Jean; his son, Bart Lust; and a sister Arlene Jones.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2014 at Snyder Funeral Home Richardson Davis Chapel, 218 S. Market St., Galion where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014 with Pastor Paul Walter officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted by the United States Army and Galion/Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
