BELLVILLE: Lodena Estella Littleton went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Monday afternoon June 9, 2014 in Country Meadow Care Center. She was 88.
Born January 29, 1926 in Smokey Valley, KY she was the only child of the late James A. & Bessie (Hall) Gillam. On June 14, 1942 she married Ersel Littleton and together lived in the Bellville area most of their married life.
She took a job working at J.C. Penney’s for a few years and in her spare time she enjoyed gardening and planting flowers, feeding the birds, crocheting, and quilting. Above all, she adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
Lodena was a faithful member of Bellville Freewill Baptist Church and she cherished her church family.
In addition to her loving husband of (almost) 72 years, Ersel Littleton of Bellville, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Larry & Melva Littleton of Bellville and Don & Jeannie Littleton of Mansfield; five grandchildren (and spouses): Doug (Sally) Littleton, Dwight Littleton, Tammy (Ronald) Hicks, Don (Chris) Littleton, Jr., and Rick (Stacy) Littleton; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson David J. Littleton and a great-grandson Scott Littleton.
Friends are encouraged to call 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Bellville Freewill Baptist Church, 294 Honey Creek Rd E in Bellville, where her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Pastor Paul Staton will officiate assisted by Pastor Bruce Copley and burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
