The Plymouth-Shiloh FFA awarded scholarships to members on Friday, March 28 at the 2014 Plymouth FFA Banquet. In addition to the four Plymouth Shiloh FFA Alumni Scholarships, two memorial scholarships were awarded.

Plymouth-Shiloh FFA Alumni President Chuck Miller presented the Plymouth Shiloh FFA Alumni Scholarships. The scholarships were funded by various fundraisers, the most prominent the Plymouth-Shiloh FFA Alumni Consignment Sale. The 2014 scholarships were awarded to Andie Daron, Amy Grube, Mikayla Reer, and Cassidy Smedley.

Abby Finnegan, a Plymouth FFA member, tragically passed away after a car accident in December of 2009. In order to honor her legacy, her family continues to offer an annual scholarship in her memory. Molly Snyder, a friend of Finnegan, presented the 2014 Abby Finnegan Memorial Scholarship to Trevor Haymond.

A scholarship in honor of the memory of Ronnie Shepherd, who passed away in 2013, was offered by his family. Shepherd, a 1974 graduate of Plymouth-Shiloh High School, was active in FFA in high school and continued his support throughout his career. Family members were in attendance as the first annual Ronnie Shepherd Memorial Scholarship was awarded to FFA President Mikayla Reer.

Scholarships provide much needed assistance for FFA chapter members seeking higher education. With the cost of college increasing each year, scholarships assist students by rewarding them for their academic achievement and FFA involvement. The Plymouth-Shiloh chapter supporters believe the FFA is one of the best ways to gain a wide variety of skills to prepare one for the world outside of high school.
