Regina R. ”Jean” Stumpf, 64, of Galion, died Saturday, May 17, 2014 at her home after a long illness. Throughout Jean’s illness, no matter how bad she felt, you would always be greeted with a hug and a smile.

Jean was born in Madison, WV on February 13, 1950 to the late Ernest “Jim” Barker and the late Ella (Gore) Pauley. Jean and John S. Stumpf were high school sweethearts and on September 13, 1969 they were united in matrimony in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Galion.

She attended Galion High School and was a graduate of the Class of 1968. She retired from General Motors, Ontario after 15 years of service. Jean was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Galion. She enjoyed traveling with John while he was in the Air Force living in New York, Columbus and returning to Galion. She enjoyed fishing especially in the pond at her in-laws home. She loved to travel and attend the grandchildren’s sporting events. Shopping with her grandchildren was a special treat for all of them.

She is survived by her husband John, her two sons James & Ranee Stumpf, Mansfield and Jeremy Stumpf and his fiancé Hope Wise, her eight grandchildren Cody, Nick, Lauren, Abby, Aiden, Andrew, Sam and Maddy, her two sisters Beverly Barker, Crestline and Linda & Donald Switzer, Galion, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Jim & Juanita Stumpf, Galion, numerous nieces and nephews, and special neighbors and helpers James & Bethany Darr and their daughters Olivia & Divia all of Galion.

She was preceded in death by her son Jeffrey E. Stumpf on December 3, 1986, and her sister Della Barbree.

Friends may call Monday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 PM Monday at the funeral home with Deacon Al Sisson officiating. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Galion, with Fr. John Miller, Celebrant officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Galion.

The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff at Galion Community Hospital for the excellent care given to Jean.
