Today the United Way of Richland County announced Daniel Varn as its new executive director. Varn has extensive background in the non-profit world working for The Boy Scouts of America for over 11 years.

“I speak for the both the United Way Board of Trustees and the United Way staff by saying we are all excited to have Dan lead our team,” said United Way of Richland County Board of Trustees President Dan DeVille. “His not-for-profit and fundraising skills will enable our United Way to continue the progress initiated by his predecessors. I look forward to introducing Dan to the community. He brings a new perspective to Richland County that will benefit us all.”

Varn began his career with the Boy Scouts as District Executive for the Black Swamp Area Council in 2003. He then served as Senior District Executive of the Greater Cleveland Council for 5 years and then moved into the Team Leader position.

He is a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Louisville, Ohio and earned his bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University. He has been an active Rotary member in the Celina and Parma clubs serving on both of their boards and as president of the Parma club. Dan earned the honor of Eagle Scout in 1998.

“I am honored to serve in this position,” Dan said. “I look forward to working with the United Way staff and board members to continue the great works they have established and look to increase the support and efforts to all communities within Richland County.”

The United Way of Richland County funds over 60 programs within 24 local, non-profit agencies. These programs focus on four community impact areas: Health Services, Family Services, Emergency Services and Youth Development.
