Catholic Charities is seeking northwest Ohio cake bakers to create purse-shaped cakes for the Third Annual It’s In the Bag, a benefit purse auction and brunch. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, at St. Mary’s Reynolds Hall, 77 State St., Norwalk.
Attendees at the event will judge the cakes, which will be sold to the highest bidders during a live auction. All proceeds will benefit clients of Miriam House, Catholic Charities’ transitional housing program in Norwalk for homeless women and their children.
“Personalized cakes from contestants generate interest in the auction and bring creativity to the event. The idea has not been done at any other events locally,” said Roxanne Sandles, Catholic Charities housing program coordinator. “The only requirement for the competition is to create purse-shaped cakes with individuality.”
All cake flavors, fillings and cake names must be submitted by March 15 to Sandles at rsandles@toledodiocese.org or by calling 419-668-3073, ext. 107. Tickets for the event may be purchased for $15 by contacting Sandles.
