The Richland County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has been attempting to stay in contact with certain Richland County residents during the recent propane shortage.

The State of Ohio EMA has provided a list of certain residents who use propane as their product for heating.

First Call 211 has volunteered their staff to make phone calls to the residents that are listed on the sheet and determine their status as far as safety, health and welfare and how much propane they have available. First Call 211 then relays this information back to the Richland County EMA. That information is then relayed to the State of Ohio in order to close the loop.

Anyone in Richland County experiencing a propane shortage should contact First Call 211 or the Richland County EMA and advise them of his or her situation.

Several other Richland County agencies and people such as the Richland County commissioners, state Rep. Mark Romanchuck, the Richland County Red Cross, Catholic Charities, HEAP, the Richland County Veterans Administration, along with local law enforcement have also been assisting in this effort.

“It is our hope that everyone will stay safe through this unusual ordeal,” said Richland County EMA Director Mike Bailey.
