Yesterday’s Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect, but the cold temperatures still have an impact on businesses and schools.
In view of the current extreme cold weather conditions that are projected into the weekend, the Mansfield/Ontario/Richland County Health Department wants to encourage senior citizens and patients and clients with children to consider re-scheduling appointments currently listed for this week.

The National Weather Service in Cleveland issued updated advisories at 3:25 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 24 for Lucas, Wood, Sandusky, Hancock, Seneca, Wyandot, Crawford, Richland, Ashland, Wayne, Marion, Morrow, Holmes, and Knox counties.
A Wind Chill Advisory is now in effect until 1 p.m. this afternoon. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. this afternoon to 10 p.m. on Saturday. The Winter Weather Advisory is for snow and blowing snow and is in effect from 1 p.m. this afternoon to 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Wind chill readings today are possible for 10 to 24 degrees below zero. Until 1 p.m. today. Hypothermia can occur rapidly in those unprepared for the cold. Exposed skin will be susceptible to frostbite. Dress warmly, making sure that all exposed skin is covered.
Blowing snow this afternoon is probable with snow and blowing snow tonight into Saturday evening. Winds will be increasing to 20 to 30 mph today with gusts of 35 to 40 mph then continuing tonight with a little decrease for Saturday.
Accumulating snow is expected tonight through late Saturday. Accumulation by Saturday evening is expected to range from 2 to 5 inches. Visibility this afternoon into Saturday evening may be reduced to a quarter mile at times in snow and blowing snow. The combination of snow and blowing snow will have the potential to significantly impact travel conditions across northern Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania.
