“Santa & Paws” offers an opportunity for photos of your “furry friends” with Santa Claus on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Richland Source offices. Just bring your pet and holiday spirit to the office, located at 21 Temple Court, Mansfield. The event is sponsored by Richland Source and MT Business Technologies, Inc.

“When the Humane Society approached us to become involved, we were excited to help. They made it very easy for us through their willingness to do the hard work to make this event happen,” said Richland Source publisher Jay Allred.

“Many of us at Richland Source and MT Business Technologies, including my family, have adopted our pets from the Humane Society. They do great work. This event is a fun way to celebrate our furry family members,” he added.

The photos are available for a $10 donation (cash or checks only) which will benefit the Richland County Humane Society. Pet owners are asked to have their pet on a leash or in a carrier, and owners can bring their own cameras. There will also be a photographer available and photos will be printed on site. Small props may be included in the photo.

A “Bark & Bake Sale” will be available and pet owners can buy a $1 ticket for a gift basket raffle, as well, or order a holiday pet gift set from the Humane Society. Each gift will feature a variety of pet products specific to the size of the cat or dog recipient. The gift baskets can also be ordered through the Humane Society. The order form is available here

In addition to coming away with a holiday photo of your pet with Santa, proceeds from the photo donations help provide for the support and care of abused, abandoned, and neglected animals. The Richland County Humane Society is a 501(c) (3) non-profit agency and does not receive any local or federal funding. They rely solely on donations.

Ingredients

3/4 cup nonfat Milk

1 Egg

1 cup Peanut Butter, smooth

2 1/4 to 2 1/2 cups Whole Wheat Flour

1 tablespoon Baking Powder

Directions

PreHeat – 325°

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, egg and peanut butter. Add in the flour and baking powder to make a very stiff dough, using your hands to work in the last of the flour if necessary.

Flour a work surface and roll out dough to a 1/4” thickness. Cut into desired sizes depending on the size of your dog. Bake on a parchment lined baking tray for approximately 20 minutes. Turn biscuits over and bake for an additional 15 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely before storing in an airtight container. Dog Biscuits can also be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Note: I don’t use milk I use water with a boullion cube and I don’t use baking powder so that they turn out crunchy. You can roll them into a small ball and flatten to bake which saves time on rolling and cutting them out.
