On the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November we come together and vote. Okay, we all know that. You didn’t need me to tell you that, right? It’s alright, I know some of you did and that’s okay.
We are going to have a little election here in this space today too. Don’t worry it’s not that kind of election. Nobody will be trying to kiss your baby on the head or promise to reduce your taxes while improving service or telling you voting for him or her will be like voting for your best friend.
No, this kind of election doesn’t even require you to go to the polls, you can vote right here on the website. Just put your vote in the comment section.
What are you voting for? You are voting for the high football coach of the year in the Mansfield area. I have selected two candidates for your consideration.
Chioke Bradley, Mansfield Senior
Well, when you go unbeaten, you can’t be better than that. Yeah, you could shutout every opponent, but how many times does that happen in modern day football?
But, putting together the first 10-0 regular season in Mansfield Senior history isn’t too bad. The Tygers won an outright Ohio Cardinal Conference title and landed a home game in the first round of the division two playoffs tonight.
Dave Carroll, Clear Fork
No, the Colts didn’t win the Ohio Cardinal Conference (OCC). They finished third behind Mansfield Senior and Ashland. No, the Colts didn’t make the playoffs. They ended up ninth in Division IV, region 12. The top eight schools make the post season.
If they had been in region 11 or 13 they would have been in. However, they competed every week in the OCC even being one of the smaller schools. Carroll was forced to move around players due to injury and they won a couple games this year with almost half of their starters on the bench with injuries. With all of that they finished a very respectable 7-3.
