Mansfield Senior can clinch no less than a share of the Ohio Cardinal Conference title with a win at Lexington. On Friday night, the Tygers improved to 8-0 with a 45-21 win at Wooster last night. Tyquan Vickers had 228 yards rushing and three scores.
“For us we just went into a hostile environment and executed our game plan,” said Mansfield Senior coach Chioke Bradley.
Ashland won the battle for second place outscoring Clear Fork 20-0 in the second half for the 36-35 win. “We didn’t play very smart football and they were playing harder than us and if we didn’t want to play smart football and play harder than we should just stay in the locker room,” Ashland coach Scott Valentine told his kids at the half. Nick Zurcher found Nich Bernhard with game winner with less than five minutes left.
West Holmes running back Luke Ogi ran for 274 yards and two scores and the Knights beat Lexington 55-33 at home.
Madison won for the second time in its last three games with a 20-10 win over Orrville. Juwan Howard had 108 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
There are now three leaders in the North Central Conference with two games to play. Galion, Upper Sandusky and Colonel Crawford are all 4-1.
After forcing a turnover Dalton Scott scored on a short run and Colonel Crawford beat Wynford 20-14 in a good one. “We hadn’t beaten Wynford in 17 years and it kept us in position to have some post season hopes and competing for a league title,” said Crawford coach Ryan Teglovic.
Upper Sandusky got 165 yards on the ground form quarterback Tylor Pritchard in their 26-8 win over Buckeye Central. Galion scored 21 unanswered points in the third quarter and beat Riverdale 48-12 to keep their share.
“We just had four or five individuals that didn’t come ready to play. We addressed that at halftime and those individuals didn’t play in the second half,” said coach Chris Hawkins. Dangerous Bucyrus led 51-0 at the half and buried Crestline 58-18 for a win.
Norwalk St. Paul continues to lead the Firelands Conference standings by one game over Mapleton and Western Reserve. St. Paul had a big second half in a 45-14 win over Crestview.
Flyers coach John Livengood complemented his offensive line. “We have three starters returning and they have done a nice job with that and we see a lot of different fronts and adjustments for our run game,” he said.
Mapleton got four touchdowns from Travis Pickering in a 52-20 rout of South Central. They host St. Paul next week.
Western Reserve outscored Plymouth 50-41 and New London stuffed Monroeville 27-13 in the other conference games.
Tiffin Columbian claimed no less than a share of the Northern Ohio League title. They beat Shelby (62-20) to improve to 5-0 in the league. Ryan Lynch had 140 yards rushing and scored four times.
Bellevue eliminated Ontario from the league race by beating the Warriors (35-12) at Copeland Field.
Sandusky beat Willard (32-15) to continue the Flashes struggles.
Loudonville improved to 8-0 in all games and won an outright Mid-Buckeye Conference (MBC) crown with a (39-14) win over Danville. Quarterback Kolton Edmondson rushed for 374 yards and two scores.
East Knox got past Lucas (20-13) in the other MBC match-up.
