The Ontario Lady Warriors achieved success at their home court on Wednesday evening against the Mansfield Senior Tygers, gaining a 5-0 victory.

Ontario’s first singles player Destiny Burdine triumphed over Senior’s Shirley Owens, going 6-0 in set one and 6-1 in set two. During the second singles match, Warrior, Alexis Shambaugh, vanquished Tyger, Xue Li, in each set with the scores 7-5 and 6-2, consecutively. Topping off the third singles round, Ashley Coyne of the Ontario team beat Olta Toska of Mansfield Senior, going 6-2 in each set.
 
The Warriors saw more success in the doubles rounds when their first doubles players, Kelsey Baker and Lizzy Reynolds, went 6-1 in both sets against Senior’s Michelle Workman and Tajanai Wade. In the second doubles match, Warriors, Amy Williams and Brie Cortelletti, claimed victory over their opponents, Evelyn Gray and Teneesha Franklin, with the scores of 6-3 in the first set and 6-0 in the second. 
 
Ontario now maintains the record of 3-8. Mansfield Senior currently holds a 0-9 record. 
 
The Warriors’ head coach, Tom Pawsey, stated of his team, “They did what they were supposed to do as far as strategy, technique, and athleticism.”
 
He continued, “They still need more time out on the court because they’re all pretty new to tennis.”
 
Along those same lines, Mansfield Senior’s head coach, Terra Beard, said, “Our whole team is new and this is very much a learning season. Some of the players have never played tennis before.”
 
Both Ontario and Mansfield Senior will play again on Thursday. The Warriors will face Willard at home and the Tygers will play against West Holmes away.
