In an effort to raise funds for the Madison wrestling program, the Madison wrestling craft show and fundraiser was held Saturday, and drew many Ram supporters and craft enthusiasts.
The event was held at the Eastbrook Center in Mansfield.
Amy Cox, a wrestling parent and one of the organizers of the event stated, “A couple of us wrestling moms were talking and decided we wanted to do a fundraiser for the team to help buy new equipment and for camp costs.”
The center was filled with various arrangements, including hand bags, jewelry, clocks, signs, gift baskets, and candles.
In addition to the crafts, there were 50/50 raffle tickets for a selection of items, all of which were donated.
Many local crafters and vendors participated.
The Madison wrestlers along with some of the wrestlers’ parents also attended the event to provide assistance with concessions and table arrangements.
The wrestling Rams saw some success last year with seven members who qualified to the District tournament.
Alize Merrell advanced to the State tournament last season, wrestling at the weight of 106 lbs. As a junior this year he’s hoping to qualify again to the State competition and win his weight class.
On Nov. 16, there will be another fundraiser for the wrestling team, along with the football team: Monte Carlo Night. This event will also be held at the Eastbrook Center at 720 5th Ave. in Mansfield.
The night will feature a reverse raffle with a grand prize of $2,000, corn hole, catering services by Port-A-Cook, and, of course, several playing card and table games, such as roulette, Blackjack, 5 & 7 card stud, and Texas Hold’em.
