In an effort to highlight the local arts and crafts community and celebrate creativity in Richland County, Downtown Mansfield, Inc. sponsored its second annual Arts in the Park. The event took place on Saturday from 9 a.m. To 5 p.m. in Central Park. As a part of the Lincoln Highway project, its primary focus was to promote local artists and crafters and provide them with the opportunity to connect with the community and one another.
“Last year was great, and we need more vendors to participate. It’s a great idea and great opportunity,” said Suzie Conrad, one of two owners of Mums’ Soaps & Such. It was the second year Conrad and her partner Brandy Robenault, both of Bellville, brought their goods to the Central Park exhibit.
Local crafter and organizer of the event Pat Olson said it was a great opportunity for artists and crafters to display their talents to the community. Though the event is relatively new, Olson sees it as the beginning of a great inspiration. “It’s like Gladiolas, it takes a while to grow, each year little by little, before you know it you are in full bloom,” added Olson.
Olson also said that she hopes to see more participation at future events, stating that there are a lot of talented people in Richland County.
